About me
My name is David Walden, though in the world of photography most people know me as Waldorf. My journey began when I was ten years old, holding my very first camera in my hands. I shot an entire roll of film within minutes and, in my excitement, exposed it completely while trying to remove it. That small mistake became the spark that shaped the rest of my life. It taught me something simple yet profound: photography has the power to preserve what is fleeting.
At eighteen, I spent my first paycheque on a professional camera and a tent. It wasn’t just a purchase — it was a commitment. A quiet promise to follow the path that had already begun pulling me in. For more than three decades I’ve been learning to read light the way others learn languages, capturing people, places, emotions and moments that would otherwise be lost.
Today, I am drawn to the raw energy of live events — the electricity of concerts and music festivals, the intensity of combat sports, the emotion of athletic performance. I love being in the very heart of a moment, where history happens in a fraction of a second and the air feels alive.
But I am just as connected to the calm of portraiture, the intimacy of weddings, the tenderness of family moments and the quiet poetry of landscapes.
And as a devoted dog lover, I find a special kind of truth in photographing animals — their honesty, their expression, their unmistakable emotion. A portrait of a dog often reveals more than a hundred words ever could.
My work lives on the edge of two worlds: the loud, dynamic, high-energy moments… and the soft, delicate, timeless ones.
It’s in the space between these extremes that my favourite images are born — real, heartfelt and meaningful.
Waldorf Art Studio is where these stories take shape.
It is where I create photographs with rhythm and depth; where I design banners and visual concepts; where I craft artistic collages that weave past and present together. It is also where I produce fine art prints on premium materials, turning imagery into tangible pieces of art.
And it is where I carefully scan, restore and revive old photographs and film — giving cherished memories the chance to live again.
I create images that feel alive.
Frames that stay with you.
Stories that outlast the moment.
I invite you to explore the full world of Waldorf Art Studio — the galleries, the stories, and the moments captured throughout this website. Dive into my portfolio, wander through the blog, and take your time discovering the images that resonate with you.
